My Journey: From Early Aspirations to Financial Consulting

A Passion for Numbers

When I was 7 years old, I was introduced to computers. By the age of 10, I had become obsessed with math, solving problems within 30 seconds.

Early Challenges and Triumphs

  • 1991: As a single mother with a newborn, I managed to budget $100 a week.

  • 1997: I earned my G.E.D., marking the first step in my educational journey.

Academic Pursuits

  • 1991: Budgeted $100 a week as a single mother with a newborn.

  • 1997: Earned my G.E.D.

  • 2000-2002: Attended Rockland Community College in Suffern, New York, and the College of Westchester in Westchester, New York.

A New Chapter in Washington, DC

In 2006, my daughter and I moved to Washington, DC. I enrolled in Strayer University's undergraduate program in 2008. Although my credit score was below 400 when I filed for bankruptcy in 2010, I remained undeterred.

Diagnosed with MS

In 2008, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). This life-altering news brought with it a new set of challenges, but it also fueled my determination to achieve my goals and not let the diagnosis define my journey.

Educational Achievements and Financial Rebound

  • 2012: Earned my Associate's Degree in Accounting from Strayer University.

  • 2016: Graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Maryland Global Campus, while managing a limited budget.

  • 2020: My credit score rose to the high 700s following the discharge of my bankruptcy, increasing by 68 points.

Professional Growth and Certification

  • 2022: Engaged in various business ventures that kept me busy.

  • 2023: Certified as a Certified Financial Counselor by the National Association of Certified Credit Counselors on June 1. Additionally, I earned a Certificate in Leadership and Management from Prince George's Community College.

Inspiration and Passion

My love for numbers and information, combined with my passion for helping others with their finances, inspired me to start Metzger Financial Consulting. Despite the hurdles, including my MS diagnosis, I have remained steadfast in my mission to assist others in navigating their financial journeys.

Moreover, every transaction through Metzger Financial Consulting contributes to my stem cell treatment in Panama. This not only helps me manage my MS but also empowers me to continue offering the best support to my clients.
